Optical Coherence Tomography Testing in Edmonton

Optical coherence tomography (OCT) is an innovative and non-invasive process performed by your optometrist. This test only takes moments and allows us to detect pathology within the layers of the retina in ways we cannot easily identify with traditional methods.

Why do I need OCT?

OCT helps diagnose many eye conditions that a normal eye exam might not be able to catch. Once we’re able to detect the problem, we can offer you treatment options or timely referral to an ophthalmologist for specialized care. These conditions include:

  • Age-related macular degeneration
  • Central serous retinopathy
  • Diabetic retinopathy
  • Macular edema
  • Macular hole
  • Macular pucker
  • Preretinal membranes
